Lady in the Limelight

I was hoping to get this post out earlier - in fact, I had a couple of other ladies lined up for my blog posts this week, but I realised it was all too much to take on. I shall, however, blog about the other two ladies sometime soon :)

Today's Lady in the Limelight is Marsha. In fact, she and I worked on a blog post together a few days ago for the event of Women's Day. Marsha is an AMAZING cook, and has a charming little blog called The Harried Cook with lots of do-able recipes with yummy results! I admire Marsha so much for the many hats that she wears - not literally, of course - Marsha in a hat would be quite an interesting sight... :) What I mean is, that she plays so many different roles - wife, mother, cook, singer, pastor's wife, dog-lover, English dictionary - ahem, I mean English teacher/trainer, curriculum writer for kids in her church... and the list goes on. These are only some of the things that I know about anyway. I remember a few years ago, some of us friends (it was mainly my husband's idea) decided to invent a new word and try and slip it into our conversation to see if she would notice. After a few attempts of us using the word in all the possible ways that it could make sense, she saw through it straight away! We always go to her if we have any questions about our English grammar, etc :)

Marsha is a great mom, her beautiful daughter, Aimee, and my son Matt are only three months apart, and it was so comforting to have her as a friend especially throughout my pregnancy and Matt's first year. Here's a photo of them when they were just 7 and 10 months old.

As I mentioned before, Marsha is an amazing cook, and I really dont know how she does it. She just whips up some creation or the other, and they all taste lovely! I just don't know how Thompson (Marsha's husband) stays so trim and fit :)

Anyways, so Marsha was asked to do something special for Women's Day this year, in relation to the Dark is Beautiful Campaign run by Women of Worth, and she asked me if I'd like to take photos of her cookies. I said I'd love to, but I was pretty nervous since I've really not done ANY food photography before. I also asked her if I could take profile pictures of her. Here are one of the cookie pictures, you can see more here, in her blog.

And here is the woman herself :) She said she hates being in front of the camera, but I think she looks lovely!

I also wanted to capture a few pictures under 'The Harried Cook' theme - and if I have more time next week, I still have more photos to edit, but as for now, this is what I came up with.

For those of you who live in Chennai, you should sign up for Marsha's workshop 'Introduction to Baking 101 by Marsha Thompson', coming up later this month. Click here for the details.

*blush* Zip, you make me sound way cooler than I am. :D

You've done a great job with the posts - both on my blog and on this one. It's the first time someone's taken pictures of me that I don't want to delete immediately :) That is not a commonality :D Great job, Zip!

Thanks for the pictures & feature! And most of all, thanks for all the kind words, support and encouragement... and I don't just mean on this post!
